Impact isn’t easy. At 20 feet long and weighing 165 pounds, each of the 25 sections of our Elastec booms is, well, a beast. After being loaded onto a flatbed truck at our Puerto Barrios headquarters, the 500 feet of boom made their way roughly 60kms through banana plantations to our new satellite location on the bank of the Rio Motagua, considered by many to be the most polluted river in the world. Here, the teams rolled up their sleeves and, with the help of some heavy machinery, dug an 85-foot ramp to allow the booms to be placed at the current water line, nearly 25 feet below the embankment.
