Is recycling really working? 🤔♻️
A new report on recycling found that of 51 million tons of plastic waste produced in the US, only 2.4 million tons is actually recycled. Additionally, only 20.9% of PET, one of the most common plastics in the US considered recyclable, is reprocessed into a new material.
The report offers insights into why recycling isn't working. It also calls for a new circular economy, where products either come in zero waste packaging or a material that can be reused easily.
