That's what happened with these fishing nets. Abandoned fishing gear, or better known as 'ghost nets', act as one of the largest entanglement threats for marine life.
Dolphins, sea turtles, sharks, and thousands of other marine species face this threat every single day.
These nets specifically washed up onto Menjangan Island in Bali where they were recovered by our cleanup crew. But this is a global issue that we're seeing get worse every single day.
