These tires will never see the bottom of the ocean again.
Earlier this week, our professional divers + cleanup crew completed an Osborne Reef Tire Cleanup. Within a few hours, we were able to recover 63 tires from the bottom of the ocean. Once these tires are collected, they're transferred over to the 4ocean box truck and are taken back to our facility.
From there, a portion of the tires are used to make our Osborne Reef Jewelry Collection. However, the condition of the tires makes them extremely difficult to recycle using the equipment we currently have. For now, tires that can’t be recycled are sent to the Solid Waste Authority in West Palm Beach, Florida (the most advanced, efficient, and lowest-emission waste management facility in the U.S.). There, our waste tires will be converted into energy that powers thousands of homes and businesses in our local community 🔌
