There's a new form of plastic pollution: plastitar.
When there's an oil spill, residue from the spill interacts with weather and water. During this process the residue turns into tar. This tar can become stuck on coastlines. As plastic pollution makes its way to the shore, wave action and the sticky surface of the tar causes plastic to become stuck.
The first official plastitar was found in the Canary Islands. More needs to be understood about plastitar, but various chemicals are thought to be leaching from the tar and the plastic. This is one disgusting pollution combo.
