Ellie Goulding dives deeper into the Osborne Reef Tire Cleanup!

Recovering tires from the bottom of the ocean isn’t as easy as our small crew makes it seem. A single tire can weigh up to 50 pounds and each one must be wrestled out of the sand and threaded onto a lift bag that will carry it to the surface. Our crews must then haul the lift bags and tires out of the water and onto our vessel, which takes a lot of time and effort.
In ideal conditions, our current crew can do 2-3 dives in one day and recover 28-33 tires during each dive. There are still around 500,000 tires that need to be recovered, so we’re going to need your help to scale this operation and maximize our impact.
