Thousands of gallons of oil are ravaging the southern coast of California right now. On October 2nd, an enormous amount of oil was spilled into the ocean when a pipeline broke 4 miles near an offshore drilling platform. The spill resulted in a 13-mile wide oil slick off the coast of Huntington Beach and Newport Beach. The highly toxic oil spill is causing devastating impacts to wildlife, the marine environment, and the coastline. We are truly heartbroken by this tragedy, and our thoughts are with everyone and everything impacted. ⚠️ If you come across oiled wildlife in the area, you are encouraged to CALL the Oiled Wildlife Care Network at (877) 823-6926 and report the following detailed information: 1. Your location (city, street names, lifeguard towers, etc) 2. Description of the animal to help identify the species 3. How much oil is on the animal & in what areas 📸: @cityofhb / @latimes / @jax6street
