This cleanup location gives us access to new rivers, coastlines, and parts of the ocean that will allow us to widen the scope of our Indonesian operation, increase our coverage, create new jobs, boost local economies, and maximize our impact.
While the island of Java offers everything a fairly adventurous person could want, including ancient monuments, major national parks, rainforests, countless rivers, and over 100 volcanoes, it’s dense population and lack of waste management infrastructure make it an extremely high-impact area for plastic pollution.
We strategically chose to open our 4ocean Java headquarters in Banyuwangi Regency as the lack of waste management in this area is causing significant issues for Java and the surrounding islands.
