Our cleanup crews in Guatemala have been absolutely crushing it! ⠀
⠀
If you can remember, we launched our Guatemala operation back in January and were focusing on scouting and cleaning the Puerto Barrios and Rio Motagua areas. Since then, our team has grown from just a few individuals to 18 full-time crew members and 65 part-time crew members. They’ve already removed over 175,000 pounds! In addition, we have secured two new satellite locations that set us up to be even more effective in the new year. Over the next few months, we’re going to be showing you behind-the-scenes of how our crews work everyday and the impact they are having on the ocean and coastlines. ⠀
⠀
In these images, you can see our cleanup crews from San Francisco Del Mar cleaning up plastic pollution from the coastline, loading it into 4ocean super sacks, and using small Panga boats to transport them to a barge where the plastic can be then taken back to our cleanup operation base in Puerto Barrios.⠀
