Our crew members in Florida recently paid a visit to Manatee Lagoon in West Palm Beach, where manatees congregate in large numbers from November to March.
Sadly, this lagoon has seen some plastic pollution build up over the past few months, which poses as a serious threat for manatees as they begin to move through during manatee season.
So, our crews ventured out to join a few other local organizations to clean it up just in time for manatee season to begin!
During the cleanup, we discovered that a majority of the pollution was coming from a storm drain that was carrying litter from the streets, down into the ocean.
Let this be another reminder that anywhere you're able to pick up trash, whether it be your neighborhood or the park, will absolutely make an impact.
