In developing nations like Haiti, waste management systems are either lacking, inefficient, or underfunded. This results in plastic disposal directly into ocean bound waterways or incineration.
Our cleanup crews in Haiti come across miles of plastic pollution in the oceans and on the coastlines every day. Here’s a little #ThrowbackThursday to August 2019, prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, when our crews were still able to operate.
Together, we can end the ocean plastic crisis by stopping plastic production at the source in addition to cleaning what’s already made its way into the oceans we love.
