The four styrofoam cups in the second photo were collected by our crew during a recent cleanup because people chose convenience over change.
Polystyrene is a brittle, low-quality plastic that breaks easily. The pieces each cup is missing likely broke off after entering the ocean and could easily be mistaken for food by marine animals.
Remember: Convenience has consequences.
