Each year beachfront properties are getting closer and closer to the edge of the water. Beach nourishment and beach armoring are two ways to combat the this problem, but they're costly to sea turtle nesting habitats. While it's great to add sand back to beaches through beach nourishment, it's possible that the sand isn't conducive to sea turtle nesting. Beach armoring, including the building of seawalls and bulkheads, and geotextile tubes aren't only reducing the amount of beach that the turtles have to nest, but it can cut them off from nesting areas altogether. #4Ocean #OceanConservation 📸: @tomkahler
