#TrashTalkTuesday: A new study has found an unprecedented number of microplastics frozen in the Arctic sea ice. Each liter of sea ice contained around 12,000 particles of plastic, which is a concern due to native animals ingesting these particles. Not only is the polar sea ice acting as storage for ocean plastic that could potentially be released due to climate change, but the movement of sea ice could also be depositing microplastics in areas that were previously plastic-free.
