When right whales become entangled in ghost nets, they become distressed. Thick lines lodged in a whale's mouth or wrap around its flippers or tail, can cause abrasions on their skin or restrict their movement. Whales that survive an entanglement may not get free from fishing lines for years. When fishing, consider switching to a lighter line--heavy enough to do its job, but frail enough to break if it snares a whale. #4Ocean #OceanConversation #JoinTheMovement #ConservationConversation 📸 : @noaa
