Even as my dysphoria grew worse, to the point that it became crippling, I always found strength in envisioning a young Maya seeing herself now thriving on her own, fighting for space she thought didn’t exist, imagining what it would’ve felt like to see her feelings personified, to see the veil of “impossibility” being lifted from her weary eyes.
