Sunday Cinema: RAW - directed by Julia Ducournau
After hearing of people fainting during screenings at various film festivals, I had to see this at the first chance I got. It lived up to it's hype and is a visual tension masterpiece. For those weary, it goes well beyond senseless gore, but if you've got a weak stomach I'd be careful (or toughen up!). RAW evoked similar feelings to past disturbing French film favorites like INSIDE & MARTYRS in that it's unsettling, at times repulsive, and still provacative. Looking forward to more work from Ducournau and standout actress Garance Marillier. NY - you can see this at the legendary Angelika Film Center or the Alamo Drafthouse in Brooklyn. -@jay_cinematic
