Recently, while training, someone came up to me and said “wow, you’re so talented.” I of course thanked them and got back to what I was doing, but I remember being slightly annoyed. Not at person, they were being very kind, but at what they complemented. Talent. • I personally believe talent has very little to do with it. I give all the credit of my abilities to hard work and dedication. There is no talent in going to bed at 8:00 almost every night. There is no talent in watching YouTube videos at 25% speed so you can see the way people better than yourself move. There is no talent in spending hours a day stretching and recovering. There is no talent in making yourself do what you don’t want to do. Dedication. Hard work. Not talent. • The moment you look at someone and say “they’re so talented” you discredit their hard work and your own own ability to be able to do what they do. • mathewfras for example, at the 2015 CrossFit Games placed almost last in the sprinting events. Running, especially sprinting, is one of the most looked at abilities as “you either have it or you don’t.” Yet, Mat comes back in 2016 and takes 2nd over all in the sprint event. There was no talent. There was hard work. • I believe you can master anything IF you are willing to work for it. • • #CrossFit #TeamFNX #Motivation
