Hello Luna Moth.. came home to this new visitor. Incredible 4 inch wing span on this one. Never saw anything like this growing up in NYC. Very cool to experience their greatness in real life. I like to think everything in life has a meaning. I consider myself very lucky. To meet one is a special gift because the Luna moth lives only one week once it leaves its cocoon.
Apparantly Luna moths are attracted to the moon as a source of light. In spiritual terms, they signify rebirth and new beginnings. Because they gravitate towards light in the darkness of the night, the luna moth is seen as a symbol of spiritual transformation, of heightened awareness, and a striving towards truth.
