{ Don't Piss on my Passion Parade} The last time I ever performed it was at Meany Theatre in Seattle. Barefoot and in all white. I had choreographed a piece to {Gloomy Sunday} by Billie Holiday. Nothing like ballet and the blues. I was a dancer for most of my life. (I suppose I still am if you count dancing around the house by myself, or choreographing in my head when a beautiful song comes on.) Then one day I auditioned for a ballet company as well as Cornish going into my college years. When at the company audition, I overheard one of the instructors tell an applicant "don't consider coming back till you can lose a few pounds" ? needles to say, I went with Cornish instead. (I hope she's still dancing. ❤️) And that is when my love story with ballet became more of a chore and less of a passion. In dance, just like everything else in life... True beauty comes when you're doing shit from your heart. No matter your weight, your look, your means. Passion is what brings people to tears when they watch you on stage or see what you create, or see the way you love. I remember going to the ballet with my mother several times. You could so easily tell the difference between a just a trained dancer, versus a dancer that had ballet pumping through their veins. I just ordered a ballet barre for the home. I miss it. Never let anyone turn your dreams into a chore. My baby Lula has been a passion everyday for 13 years and becomes more and more so as each year goes by. Have a good day love bugs, I don't know what the moral of this story is haha except I suppose to say that if you're doing anything in life that doesn't make you feel all the feels- drop that shit and move on, and if anyone is pissing on your passion parade... Drop their shit and move on. ? #MarciRant
