My great grandmother, Lola (Lula Mae's daughter) & my great grandfather, Frank. Kingsville, TX 1922. Lola passed away only 16 years later, and was 18 years old in this photo. She's beautiful. This Is one of our photos of passed loved ones for our Day of the Dead altar. ? Going through old photos tonight got me thinking about how different everything was then. Nothing was "easy" or "fast" or "available" as it is now. Cooking, gardening, medicine, craftsmanship, all of it was a household art. Today all we have to do is go through a drive through, head to a big block, or line up at the emergicacre. I'm grateful for progress in someways, but wonder what life would be like if all of this "easy" was taken from us. Imagine how much more grateful we would be. Imagine what love was like then, no cell phones. The longing of actually missing someone. Waiting for a love letter to arrive just to hear from them. Imagine the passion when you couldn't be over saturated with everyone's naked ass haha Anywho, blah blah blah just a cool reminder via black and white pic not to take things for granted. This pic will be perfect for our piece, as they are also clearly headed to a funeral to remember/celebrate the life of someone lost. Ok, night night, my overly romantic old ass is hitting the hey. Big day tomorrow, people. ??❤️??
