My beautiful Grandma Charlene just passed away today. Today is her birthday. She was Lula Mae's granddaughter. Lula Mae raised her after my grandmas mom, Lola passed away when she was 4. My gramma Charlene was a beautiful southern firecracker. Born in Corpus Christi, Texas. She married my grandpa when she was 17 years old.. And they had only met 2 weeks before. She loved reminding me that they "didn't leave that hotel room for a week" on their honeymoon. My grandpa made the mistake of hooking up with the secretary when he was married. Grandma kicked his ass out, got a job at Denny's, and raised 2 children on her own. She roofed the house on her own if there was a leak, and took care of the plumbing. She was the longest running Denny's waitress to date, and refused offered promotions, cause she loved serving customers. ❤️ She lost both her children to cancer. My uncle at 15, and my mom at 37. She still somehow managed to love life after that. And my grandpa never stopped calling to remind her how much he still loved her. I wish I would have given her more of my time. Happy birthday grandma, you lived a good life and we should all be inspired by your strength to keep living no matter what life throws our way. ❤️ Love you - Your Pumpkin
