This year Nite Art coincides with AIDS 2014, being hosted here in Melbourne. We have 3 exhibitions open on the night that are AIDS related.
At George Paton Gallery. Exhibition: Transmission. The exhibition revisits the successful HIV/AIDS prevention campaigns from the 1980’s attempting to transfer important learnings from one generation to the next, extremely relevant with current 10% increase in infections reaching a 20 year high. Galllery: Edmund Pearce. The exhibition 'Out of the closets, into the streets: gay liberation photography 1971-73' pictures the very beginning of the gay liberation movement in Australia Artists: Philip Potter, John Storey, John Englart, Barbara Creed, Ponch Hawkes and Rennie Ellis.
