My advice to upstart makers is to just get in there and build. You can start by looking at what else is out there. But finally you must turn off the input and focus on what is in you. You are going to make 100 things you hate. And 500 things that are novice. But with each moment you use your hands you are carving out who you are and refining what you can achieve.
You can try to copy what someone else is doing but you can never rob someone else of the soul they put into their work and the seasoned eye can always tell the difference. So bear through your own growth. The honesty in your work is absolutely worth it in the end.
