A few mayfly and stonefly imitations. People often say that realistic flies don't work. I beg to differ. While I agree that realistic movement is just as important as realistic representation. And that size, translucent colour and silhouette matter most. I also feel that detailed flies add an extra 'something' for big educated fish. I certainly feel more confident when I have a realistic fly on, that has proved its worth over time. Nearly 90% of my trout over 6lb are caught on realistic ties. You could say that this is because I use this patterns more often. But the reason I use them so regularly, is because standard patterns have failed me so many times when targeting these fish. Pheasant tails and hare and coppers have their place. But in my experience not when seriously targeting trophy sized fish in NZ. Thoughts are welcome. #doesflychoicematter #realisticflies #flytying #fluefiske #flugfiske #fishing #troutfishing #troutbum #flyfishing #flyfishingporn #flyfishingjunkie #love #livetofish #seewhatsoutthere #dryordie #keepemwet #canon_photos #instagood #mayfly #mayflymafia #stonefly #newzealand #fishing #manictackleproject #swiftflyfishing #looptackle #sageflyfish #simmsfishing #patagoniaflyfishing #barbless
