When I was learning to build rods when I produced my 4th I decided to show it to a local bamboo builder. I was torn apart and he really crucified me on my finish. "Way to much finish, if I doesn't look like thread anymore what the F is the purpose". That hurt. Since that day 5+ years ago. After that day I have refined my process and attempt to get that translucent thread high finish perfected, more bamboo in appearance than synthetic lick and stick. I'm close but still have some work to get that ideal look.
Criticism that is negative is not intended to be hurtful but it gives direction on areas to improve. For me it's an opportunity to say F you I got this. I could have just as easily given up.
