Making plans for Milan. Starting with Villa Necchi Campiglio, with its achingly elegant detailing it's a breath of fresh air in a city full of ornate palazzos. Designed by Piero Portaluppi and built between 1932 and 1935 for the industrialist sisters Gina and Nedda Necchi (who made sewing machines), it was immortalised as the film set of I Am Love. The serene green conservatory has in-built glass boxed walls housing ferns.
