We rented a very old farmhouse, near our building project, around the time we started recording The Clearing, so we would have somewhere to work. Here is Rachel Rollins recording violins for Walk the Furrows, for which she wrote the beautiful string arrangement.

In the background, you can see some of Beth’s art that is available on the Kickstarter page, as well as the Nord keyboard we are also offering as a reward to Kickstarter supporters.

We are really excited about setting up a studio in the cabin we have built. We will be able to record our entire albums ourselves, because we will have our own equipment and won’t have to borrow it from other people. We’ll also have a more climate-controlled environment than the 150 year old un-insulated farmhouse, and we won’t have to pay rent for our space, because we will have built it ourselves.

We are feeling hopeful that we’ll make our goal to set up the studio and record the next Bowerbirds album (as well as Phil’s new side project, Island Dweller) inside our new homemade space. A lot of people have been selecting the amulet prize, so we have been out on hikes collecting natural items for the amulets, and looking through our rock collection for useful stones.

Check out the Kickstarter page here: http://kck.st/SxZEg2
