Photo: @andy_mann // Only 10% of an iceberg is visible above the water. The vast majority is hidden in the icy depths. With enough exposure to the elements the top will eventually whither away and top the scales, sending the whole monster barreling upside down. We discovered this first hand while #onassignment for @natgeo & @natgeopristineseas when this exact iceberg flipped on us while we were in the water. Luckily, we escaped with some lessons learned and a good story. Shot in Franz Josef Land, Russia 2013. // #followme @andy_mann for stories from the Arctic and Antarctic regions of our blue planet. @sea_legacy
