The World at Night project
Painted by light and water! One of the most enchanting views at night is when stars and the Milky Way, in an ideal dark sky, reflect on calm waters. Try it next time you travel somewhere far from the light pollution. The water surface diffuses the image and reveal more star colors. This single-exposure photo is taken on a summer night from a lake in the Sierra Nevada mountains, California. The bright orange star is Antares, the heart of constellation Scorpion. The rest of notable stars on the left are in Sagittarius, towards the heart of the Galaxy.
