The beautiful space between Earth and the International Space Station (@iss) was immortalized by NASA astronaut Mark Vande Hei while orbiting 250 miles above the planet we call home.
Vande Hei posted this majestic image to social media on Dec. 17 saying, "Hello Little Rock, Memphis, Jackson, New Orleans, Birmingham, Miami, and many places in between! #SpaceIsCloserThanYouThink"
Currently, there are six people living and working on the space station. They are not only conducting cutting-edge research aboard the orbital laboratory; their images of Earth help monitor conditions on our planet, and also showcase its beauty.
