Whitney Portal is the gateway to Mount Whitney, which is the highest summit in the United States. A night like this is definitely needed after descending the 14,505 peak. There’s no better feeling than reflecting on an epic day around a campfire with good friends. As the day turned to night, the clear skies turned to rain, and all my friends left the cave to return to the van. My stubborness kept me in that cave and in the morning I returned to the van drenched, but with a huge smile on my face.
