The World at Night project
One of my favorite northern light photos, captured in March 2015 from the iconic Kirkjufell mountain and falls in Iceland, during the most intense aurora activity in more than a decade. @natgeo editors selected it as one of the best 2017 travel photos. It also appeared on the cover of the National Geographic special issue (Hidden Earth), but on top of all it was one of the most exciting nights under stars. Hanging a print of this on our living room wall since our baby was born less than a year ago, he now recognizes the words Iceland and Aurora!
