The iconic landmark of Lisbon, the Belém Tower, appears at night, but not as it usually looks! I was very fortunate on this evening as they turned off the lights on the tower for a few minutes for technical reasons. Otherwise capturing clear view of stars above this strongly lit monument is almost impossible! Constellation Taurus with the Pleiades star cluster and Jupiter (bright point) appear on the left above the 25 de Abril Bridge across the Tagus river (zoom in for details). The tower is a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to its significant role in the Portuguese maritime explorations in the 16th century.
