Photo by @christopheviseux // The picturesque turquoise-colored Lake Tekapo on the South Island of New Zealand lies 2,330 ft above sea level. Located 3hrs outside of Christchurch and Queenstown, it is a popular touristic destination. Among various outdoor activities, it is also a well known spot for stargazing. Away from artificial light pollution, you can explore the constellations on crystal clear nights from the Mount John Observatory. It is part of the Aoraki Mackenzie International Dark Sky Reserve.
