photograph by @susanseubert // Vog being produced from the nearby volcano, Kilauea, located on the Big Island of Hawaii, creates a magnificent sunset, as seen from Ka'anapali Beach on the island of Maui. The southerly winds, locally referred to as, "Kona," bring the sulfur dioxide and particulate emitted by Kilauea to the Maui atmosphere. Combined with a substantial northwest swell, the beaches on the leeward side of Maui are busy with locals and tourists alike who are drawn to the nearshore waves.
