It is a very bright day as President Obama and his administration just protected 115 million acres of the Chukchi and Beaufort Seas from oil and gas exploration indefinitely. More over, Prime Minister @justinpjtrudeau has announced that it will freeze oil and gas offshore leasing in Canadian Arctic waters. Polar bears like this young male are incredibly sensitive to any noise disturbance. They already have enough challenges with the loss of sea ice. Oil and gas exploration would displace narwhals, bowhead whales, walrus, seals, belugas, polar bears and many other species from their migratory corridors.
