Photo by @Alisonwrightphoto// While photographing an assignment for @natgeotravel story in #Nepal I joined the crush of pilgrims and holy men at #Pashupatinath for the seven seed festival, a blessing for the recent passing of all ancestors. This Hindu temple and sacred cremation grounds located on the #Bagmati River in #Kathmandu come to life at dawn. The acrid smell of burning bodies filled the air as I watched the remnants of human toes curl into the flames of the fire. A few feet away an irreverent #monkey concentrated on eating his banana amid the pile of remains and debris. Life and death coincide with ease in Nepal, a thinly veiled separation, one of the many things I admire about this country. #onassignment with @carriemiller_writer #natgeotravel #natgeojourneys #natgeocreative
