[4 of 7] Photo by @bertiegregory for my new wildlife adventure YouTube series for Nat Geo. See the link in my personal bio to watch. // Meet the apex predator on the West Coast of Vancouver Island, Canada. Unlike their continental cousins, coastal wolves live on the beach and up to 90% of their diet comes from the ocean. The wolf pictured was the alpha female of her pack. I say ‘was’ because a few months after I took this photo in 2011, she was shot and thrown in a local fishing village dumpster. If she had been a lion, if her name was Cecil, there would have been outrage all over the world. Because she’s a coastal wolf, nothing happened. Since that tragic moment, I’ve been planning my return to this coast to show just how awesome these animals are. This return became @natgeowild's first ever online series. To watch the whole series and learn more about these amazing wolves, see the link in my bio (@bertiegregory).
