Photograph by @paulnicklen for @natgeo // A huge barreling wave at #Pipeline unleashes its energy onto the North Shore of Oahu, #Hawaii. The energy that is released out of the barrel is something surfers refer to as the ‘spit’. Here, surfers and boogie boarders push through the spit and position themselves for the next wave. When Pipeline is pumping, it is available to just a handful of the best surfers in the world.
