Spirit Bears, the black bears that sport the rare recessive gene that gives them all-white fur, are the iconic symbol of the Great Bear Rainforest of British Columbia. This vast wilderness, inhabited by some of the most impressive and magical arrays of wildlife, both terrestrial and marine, that exist on the planet, is being faced with the dilemma of fast-track industrial development or slowed-pace ecotourism.
