Photo by @andywcoleman // I find hippopotamus to be fascinating and endlessly entertaining. They mostly seem sedate, floating in the water. However, they are deceptively fast on land and are one of the most dangerous animals in Africa, particularly if you are between them and where they want to go. Their jaws are strong and teeth sharp, helping them vigorously defend their territory. If you ask most people "what sound does a hippo make?" they would be hard pressed to give an answer. We've heard them roar, grunt, hiss, and groan. On this trip, we heard two males fighting in the distance and it sounded like a couple of lions roaring. My favorite sound is a guttural grunt that almost sounds like Jabba the Hut laughing - endless entertainment. Taken while on safari in the Masai Mara, Kenya. @NatGeoCreative
