Photo by @jodymacdonaldphoto //Every year, humpbacks swim thousands of miles from Antarctica to the tropical waters of French Polynesia to give birth to their young. I spent many weeks with these docile, curious giants, but on this particular occasion they swam directly at me then dove deep into the abyss. Suddenly, they turned and spiraled back toward the surface, surrounding me like whirling dervishes performing an elegant dance. One of the most memorable days I've had in the ocean.
