Photo by @CristinaMittermeier. Framed by lush tropical rainforest, this stretch of the Xingú River is known as the Big Bend. As it meanders towards the main branch of the Amazon River in Brazil, the Xingú is a spiritual place that is home to thousands of indigenous people and lots of wildlife. I learned from the Indians how to be safe in these waters. Piranhas, caimans and anacondas aside, this is one of my favorite places to go for a swim! Follow me on @CristinaMittermeier to meet the indigenous people who call this magical place "home”.
