Photo by @andywcoleman // The name sloth doesn't conjure up images of an exciting wildlife encounter. And sure, we saw several lumps of moss covered fur high in the trees during our trip in Costa Rica that our guide insisted was a sloth. All it took was one close up encounter in the Cano Negro Wildlife Refuge to make us fall in love with these unique creatures. This individual was hanging upside down near the riverbank feeding on some leaves. Its slow, methodical movements were very graceful as it maneuvered through the canopy in search of food.
