Photo by @bertiegregory // A one-day-old great crested grebe tucked up under the warm wings of its parent. I spent 7 hours a day for 7 days submerged in a river to accustom these grebes to my presence. Each day I edged closer and closer, studying the birds for any sign of stress. Over time, the grebes relaxed and regularly fished around my feet within my lenses minimum focus distance of 2 metres. They gave me a small but very special glimpse into their lives. Taken in the Biesbosch National Park, Holland.
