Botswana is home to Africa’s largest elephant population and some of the best opportunities for seeing these gentle giants are in Northern portions of the Okavango Delta. Our group came across this herd of elephants in the Linyanti Wildlife Reserve, which borders the western boundary of Chobe National Park. The herd was refueling with water before trekking further. Botswana conversation efforts have helped protect elephants from poachers and grow the population, but more needs to be done. Contact an elephant conservation group in your country to learn more about conservation efforts and how to help protect these amazing creatures.
