On our way back from a great morning game drive at the Phinda Reserve, our tracker spotted a juvenile bateleur in a branch on a tree over the road. We usually see them high in the sky, so it was interesting to see one perched so close to the ground. We thought it would fly off when we approached, but were able to get a few photos before needing to drive under the branch. To everyone's surprise, the bateleur didn't move, even when we were directly underneath it. We stopped the vehicle again and got a few portrait shots before heading back to the lodge. Photo by @awc007
