Photo: @Chrisburkard. In Utah, Monument Valley’s otherworldly appearance and giant monoliths are actually eroded versions of their Rocky Mountain relatives. They were originally formed by sandstone deposits, and geologic uplift, then shaped by wind and water. These towers, spires, and massive structures bring all sorts of inspiration to Hollywood filmmakers, writers, and scientists, and I was stoked to capture it in my own way, hurtling through open air, thousands of feet above them.
