“I've made a lot of changes to my personal habits in recent years, from small things like carrying my own reusable coffee mug around to bigger structural adjustments, like changing my power source from ConEd to green energy. I've shed single-use plastic out of my life (although in times of Covid, it's been a little more challenging to keep up with this on things like takeout...). I don't shop very much, but when I do, it's primarily vintage or second hand--if I buy new, it's from a brand that aligns with my sustainability & ethical ideologies; I proudly haven't shopped at a fast fashion retailer in five years. But I think it's also important to state that I'm very imperfectly sustainable, and while I make a concerted effort to live by my environmental values, I don't always succeed, and that's ok. I believe that as long as we all individually make an effort, we will all collectively benefit.” - @heleneisfor on how she’s investing in a better future for herself & others ✨
